JOB TITLE: Petroleum Engineering Specialist — Drilling, Well Completions and Downhole Tools

Basic Function
As Petroleum Engineering Specialist in the Upstream Research organization, initiate, identify, analyze, and recommend new and emerging technologies associated with drilling, well completions, and down-hole tools and processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee ongoing activities related to research, technical studies, and technology development in a variety of subject areas, including drilling, completions, and down-hole tools and equipment.
Represent the company on existing industry consortia.
Establish contacts and liaise with drilling and completions experts in national and international drilling and service companies to identify and recommend new and emerging drilling and completion technologies for Saudi Aramco drilling operations.
Evaluate and recommend new, emerging, and/or cost-effective technologies in complex drilling operations, particularly extended reach, multi-lateral completions in tight reservoirs.
Provide expert advice and consultation in sub-sea completions, both oil and gas, involving sour fluids.
Evaluate down-hole tools for drilling and completions.
Assist in the development of new technology and research contracts.
Prepare technical and status reports.
Education & Experience:
Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related technical discipline
Doctorate degree is preferred
Minimum 15 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, ideally gained from working with major oil companies, oilfield service companies, or research and development centers
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a high degree of expertise and creativity in broad areas of petroleum engineering, particularly in oil and gas well drilling architecture, well completions, and down-hole tools and equipment.
Candidates should have experience coordinating technical teams, development projects, and special studies
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated capabilities in research as evidenced by publications and presentations of technical papers
Candidates should have excellent communication and computer skills; the ability to work with a wide variety of skilled researchers, consultants, academic institutions, and outside research centers; and the ability to represent company in a highly professional manner.
