Role synopsis |
The Solution analyst will ensure that the functional requirements of the business for technology change are clearly understood and documented to be translated in technical designs and build. He/She will have responsibility for the functional design of a specific functional area using the approved Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
The successful candidate will join the FBW Programme as part of the IT&S Enterprise System (ES) organisation. Within IT&S, the ES organisation delivers Enterprise Application projects primarily related to SAP, and develops and maintains all templates and instances in BP.
He/She will be part of the Integrated Solution Development Centre (ISDC), BP’s Centre of expertise for design, build, test and deployment of projects, and will be seconded to the FBW Programmes reporting to the Solution Lead.
The Finance BW initiative is a 3 year $45m programme that will deliver a single group-wide data warehouse for BP's financial reporting. |
Key accountabilities |
Role Specific Responsibilities
• Support the delivery of the design, configuration, and customization of a system to meet the business process design and business requirements, within the relevant processes area.
• Support the Business Process Team and Business Stakeholders to validate business requirements in order to drive common process and functional solutions globally.
• Define functional specifications through workshops and validate the design with key stakeholders to ensure the design satisfies requirements.
• Support the development of an applications specifications and validate configuration design, exploring fit/gap resolution options – including functional, security, MI and data.
• Complete the required documentation for Software Development Lifecycle.
• Participate in testing, including unit test, integration, user acceptance and system test.
• Complete all appropriate documentation required by the testers, deployment team, and application support team.
• Subject matter expert for the deployment and cutover teams on how data drives business processes and MI reports.
Business & Partnership
• Collaborate closely with Finance in completing requirements definition and application design within time and estimate constraints
• Collaborate with the Design Authority to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing
• Key interface with Finance business and process teams.
People Management
• Promote effective teamwork and collaboration between Solution Team, Finance team and other functional stakeholders.
• Identify ways to share resources across IT&S to promote information sharing and career/ skill development
Knowledge Sharing/Management
• Promote the use of knowledge management processes and tools
• Leverage successful products, processes and best practices across IT&S
• Verify documentation is captured in a document management system. Publicise deliverable location. |
Essential criteria & qualifications |
• Strong familiarity with SAP BW and other SAP products
• Data and Business Process analysis
• Process mapping & documentation skills
• University degree or specialised training or equivalent work experience
• Detailed knowledge of accounting processes
• Organisational influence and relationship management
• Abilities and confidence in dealing with conflicting priorities |
Desirable criteria & qualifications |
• Qualified/Part Qualified Accountant
• Skilful knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Rational ClearQuest applications.
• Previous knowledge of accounting and financial processes at BP
• Knowledge and experience of recognised quality assurance frameworks
• Logical structured thought and problem solving process, structured approach
• Strong attention to detail
• Worked in a complex multi layered matrix programme organisation
• Pro-active/team-player
• SAP certification |
