The Department of Medicine and the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine and the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas announce a search for an outstanding clinical investigator to serve as Chief of the Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology. The VA Hospital, one of the largest in the nation, is one of five teaching hospitals of the College and serves as a tertiary care center for veterans for most of the southern US. Outpatients are seen in combined modality clinics in the new VA Oncology Center. Candidates should have leadership experience and accomplishments in clinical, translational or basic research. Focused interest in thoracic, head and neck, GI/pancreas, GU oncology or hematologic malignancy is desirable.
Several recruiting positions and ample laboratory space are available for the successful candidate. Exceptional candidates will also be considered for a Duncan Professorship or Endowed Chair.

The Cancer Center includes eight outstanding integrated Research Programs in Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Cell and Gene Therapy, Nuclear Receptors, Pediatric Cancer, Prevention and Population Science, Cancer Biology, and Molecular Carcinogenesis. Developing programs include lung and GI cancer and hematologic malignancy. Nine Shared
Resources are available to Cancer Center members. The Human Genome Sequencing Center (one of three in the country), an RNAi High Throughput Screening Core Facility, and a Chemical Genomics Screening Core Facility are unique additional resources.

The 280 members of the Cancer Center bring in more than $100M annually in cancer-related research funding including three SPORE grants in Breast, Prostate, and Lymphoma. The Center is the recipient of a $100M naming gift from the Duncan family.

Interested candidates will have an MD or MD/PhD degree and should be Board certified in hematology and/or oncology. Applications should include a letter outlining the candidate's research interests in addition to a curriculum vitae and the names of four references.
