There are four positions available under this grant opportunity which will run through June 30, 2010.
Primary Purpose:
Provide time professional development on technology integration for core area high school teachers. Work collaboratively with the grades 9 – 12 core area teachers to integrate technology into the secondary curriculum. Provide mentoring and peer teaching on instructional technology integration into the curriculum. Facilitate the integration of technology tools and techniques into the written district curriculum. Facilitate the goals and objectives of the grant. Facilitate the development of a portal for students on coastal Texas resources
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree (preferred)
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (technology preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the integration of technology into curriculum and instruction.
Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult users
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience preferred
Experience with user support and training for software packages including Microsoft Office, Windows, and other instructional software tools and utilities
Experience with Web 2.0 tools
Experience designing and developing web pages
Experience integrating technology into the classroom
Prefer experience in providing classroom instruction to adults
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Works collaboratively with assigned core area teachers to analyze student needs, curriculum TEKS, and possible instructional technology alignments.
2. Uses this analysis to develop collaboratively with the teacher’s lesson plans for integrating technology into the curriculum area.
3. Ensures that the lesson plans developed are reflected in the District’s written curriculum
4. Conducts model lessons for the assigned teachers that integrate technology into the curriculum
5. Peer teaches integrated lessons
6. Assists teachers in computer lab settings to work with students on integrated lessons using technology
7. Develops schedule to work with each assigned core area teacher routinely.
8. Coordinates team meetings in subject areas assigned to discuss technology integration activities across the spectrum of grades 9 – 12.
9. Works with teachers to develop project based learning lessons that integrate technology
10. Work with teachers and students to develop materials to be included in the coastal Texas eportal on coastal issues.
11. Develops schedule for providing training classes on the integration of technology into the classroom
12. Prepares, develops, acquires training materials for training classes
13. Conducts training classes consistent with target audience availability (morning, noon, afternoon, evening, weekend, summer) to maximize training benefits to GISD
14. Assist assigned teachers in developing their individualized instructional technology professional development plan.
15. Efficiently and effectively performs tasks using a wide variety of Instructional Technology techniques and tools
16. Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for fulfilling required duties
17. Works effectively, with a pleasant disposition and demonstrates strong communication skills
18. Utilize good judgment, exhibits personal initiative in analyzing and researching problems and accomplish task assigned in a professional and expeditious manner
19. Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as required by the grant and as may from time to time be assigned by the Director of Special Initiatives
20. Regular attendance at work is essential for this position
Grant Coordination Responsibilities: Each Instructional Technologist Hired under this grant will be assigned to be responsible for coordinating one of the areas below:
1) English and Social Studies
2) Mathematics and Science
3) Partnership Development and Collaboration
4) Project Coordination and Struggling Learners
