Job Title:Advanced Placement Intervention Specialist
Reports to: Director for Advanced Academics Terms: 210 days
Pay Grade: Teacher Scale
Grant funded for three year period
Primary Purpose:
To serve in a support role in the transition of middle school students to the high school to ensure their success in pre AP and Advanced Placement courses
To monitor interventions for identified at-risk students who have college potential
To plan, organize, implement, and maintain a campus system of interventions that align to the district system for student success for AVID, PreAP, and AP students
Education/Certification
Master’s degree preferred
ESL Certifications preferred
Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
Keen content knowledge
Good interpersonal skills
Behavior management
Intervention planning
Testing coordination
Experience
Three years teaching experience preferred
Leadership roles in district related projects
Familiarity with college readiness standards ideal
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Track and monitor the progress of at-risk students who show college potential.
2. Hold the Intervention Committee Meetings as needed for identified high school and middle school students who participate in AVID, Pre-AP and Advanced Placement courses.
3. Facilitate the development of personal graduation plans to ensure student success who participate in Pre-AP and Advanced Placement courses.
4. Assist the principal and the instructional team in identifying and providing necessary support to students who participate in Pre-AP and Advanced Placement courses.
5. Work with teachers, principals, counselors and social workers to design and provide instructional interventions for at-risk students show college potential.
6. Facilitate and/or participate in meetings related to student interventions for at-risk students who show college potential.
7. Work closely with AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) teachers
8. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor which may occur outside the regular school day or the regular school year.
