Are you an expert in building enclosures? Do you know the ins and outs of window systems and curtain walls? Does working on building science and technology issues interest you rather than new design work? If so then you may be the standard setting guru we are looking for in our Houston office.


Typical functions for this Associate:



  • Primary client contact

  • Develops scope of services and prepares proposals

  • Assembles and manages appropriate project team

  • Invoices client and handles follow up on outstanding accounts

  • Builds client relationships

  • Attracts new and repeat business

  • Building Envelope Commissioning for existing and new construction

  • Researches structure history, technical issues, and code issues

  • Plans and mobilizes for site inspection/investigation

  • Conducts on-site inspection/investigation including survey and documentation of distress, complete field testing, removing samples, takes photographs, and makes sketches

  • Conducts on-site observations of work in progress

  • Analyzes research and investigation data and develops alternate schemes for solving problems

  • Monitors and/or conducts laboratory testing

  • Designs repair details

  • Prepares drawings and specifications, and prepares final project manual

  • Prepares bid documents, addenda, change orders, draft investigation reports, and other work product

  • Attends field meetings and prepares site observation reports

  • Performs tasks to support office function

  • Involvement in professional organizations, authors papers, attends conferences, and performs work on technical committees

  • Provides expert testimony


Requirements:



  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering with 10-15 years of experience with an architectural or architectural/engineering firm

  • Experience in building science and technology, solving problems with existing structures rather than new design

  • Local candidates only with existing local contacts

  • Licensure as an Architect in Texas

  • Fundamental understanding with some experience in roofing, waterproofing, windows, and curtain walls

  • General facade experience

  • Experience with business development

  • Experience in managing small and medium-sized projects

  • Active in professional organizations

  • Strong technical, and general written and oral communication skills

  • Strong computer skills including CADD and Microsoft Office 

  • Top notch detailing skills and proficiency preparing drawings and specifications

  • Willingness to work in the field 

  • Ability to work on swing-stage scaffolding, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, stationary scaffolding, and ladders

  • Ability to travel outside local area, depending on local work load and project locations
