Job Description

As part of our global strategy, the Oil and Gas business of Atkins is further expanding its existing capability in the provision of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), analysis, design, fluid testing and R&D.
 
To continue to meet the high expectations and demand from our Oil and Gas clients in Houston, we are currently seeking to appoint an additional team member to join our CFD team.
 
Your role will encompass the development and growth of this business within our existing clients, as well as supporting the development of new market opportunities.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace Engineering or similar at minimum. A PhD would be desirable.
  • Graduate thesis/dissertation in the area of CFD or encapsulating the extensive use of CFD is desirable.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience directly related to the development or utilization of CFD packages and/or tools including but not limited to FLUENT, FLACS, Star-CD, AutoReaGas, Solidworks, CFX.
  • A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
  • Strengths in mathematics and mathematical modeling.
  • Proven skill and experience in programming, specifically in the use of macros and scripts to ease data manipulation, processing and presentation.
  • Skills in multiple operating platforms such as Linux, Windows, or Unix
  • A strong interest in Energy business and related applications.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Experience of experimental flow measurement would be desirable.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within the US and internationally on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Houston CFD Group on CFD projects requiring computer modeling, analysis and interpretation.
  • Pre and post processing of data to support CFD analysis and interpretation.
  • Interfacing with the Houston Structural, Process and Safety Groups to provide clients with integrated solutions.
  • Interfacing with other Atkins offices to manage or execute CFD projects.
  • Production of high quality technical reports and/or presentations to clients.
  • Support of field testing and flow measurement campaigns.
  • Managing the delivery of CFD projects to schedule, cost and quality.
  • Assisting the CFD group in business development activities, including bid/proposal preparation and client presentations.
  • Co-Authoring of technical papers for presentation at conferences or publication in peer-reviewed journals.
