Job Description:

Role synopsis
Provide single point of accountability for design & delivery of US Health and Welfare (H&W) Benefits
Key accountabilities
§ Accountable for H&W benefits strategy, guiding principles and goals relative to design, delivery and communication
§ Plan design and ongoing analysis of suite of health and welfare benefits including of competitive/best practices, plan performance and assurance, plan pricing and contribution strategies, BP’s post-employment liabilities, and compliance
§ Primary interface with Sr. Leadership (US and Group) on all H&W benefits issues including plan design recommendations, financial performance, legislative impacts, competitive position, etc.
§ Overall accountability for multiple third party vendors deployed for H&W benefits delivery including sourcing strategies, vendor selection, contract negotiations, metrics and measurement, and performance management
§ Partner with Labor Relations in developing strategies for positioning desired benefit changes with unions
§ Content owner of H&W communications
Essential criteria & qualifications
§ Requires management of multiple, complex risks (legal, reputational, economic)
§ Must operate in a challenging external cost environment – ongoing double digit medical inflation
§ Must be able to effectively navigate in a very complex environment - constantly evolving legislative/regulatory and legal environment layered onto BP complexities (plethora of medical (~20) and life (~75) plans from heritage companies)
a. Bachelors degree required
b. At least 15 years of directly relevant experience. Must include experience with large multi-state organizations with global reach as well as experience in project management and supervision.
c. Experience with large retiree populations and post employment benefit issues
d. Demonstrated competency in Health & Welfare benefits strategy and design including funding and pricing of welfare plans.
e. In-depth understanding of administration, implementation and communication of benefit plans.
f. Current knowledge of federal and state benefits policy and regulatory environment.
g. Demonstrated ability to carry out accountabilities with minimal oversight.
h. Track record of strong leadership, planning, management, negotiation and analytical skills.
i. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills at all organizational level and with external organizations.
j. Experienced in interacting with Senior Management.
k. Experience with labor/bargaining units on benefits issues
Desirable criteria & qualifications - Masters degree preferred.
