Role synopsis |
This individual will be engaged in US federal income tax research, analysis and planning associated with the Company's foreign operations and international transactions. In addition, this individual will assist in the management of US tax exposures associated with the Company's foreign operations. |
Key accountabilities |
1. Identify and develop U.S. Tax planning initiatives for international businesses and operations. Be heavily engaged in the review of transactions involving the Company's foreign operations as well as transactions with international tax implications. 2. Perform highly complex federal income tax research and analysis with respect to a wide range of sophisticated issues pertaining to the Company's foreign operations and international transactions and prepare well reasoned and well written memoranda supporting legal conclusions, including assessments of tax risk. This individual will be required to explain and defend his or her conclusions in verbal communications with Tax and non-Tax personnel in a clear and cogent fashion. 3. Understand the economic and financial impacts of underlying transactions and issues. 4. Monitor U.S. tax law changes as they affect the taxation of the Company's foreign operations and international transactions. 5. Work closely with other members of the International Tax team, the Corporate and Consolidation Tax team and members of Treasury, Law, other corporate teams and relevant Business Units in the provision of tax advice and the resolution of tax issues. 6. Monitor non-legislative U.S. federal tax law changes for the purpose of assessing potential impact to the Company with regard to the U.S. taxation of its international operations and identifying potential opportunities for tax planning and tax risk mitigation. 7. Monitor all proposed U.S. federal tax law changes potentially affecting the taxation of international operations and analyze developing legislation to determine the impact on the Company's tax position. Support and participate as needed in the U.S. legislative process to seek mitigation of harmful legislation where appropriate. |
Essential criteria & qualifications |
1. 6+ years of broad international tax experience required (law firm, public accounting, and/or industry) and J.D. required. 2. Significant experience with several of the following international tax planning areas - outbound and inbound transactional structuring, subpart F, check-the-box principles, U.S. tax treaties, intellectual and intangible property planning, foreign tax credit planning, and international mergers and acquisitions. 3. Excellent research and analytical skills in the area of U.S. taxation of foreign operations and international transactions; high proficiency in performing electronic tax research. 4. Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with other Company tax teams worldwide. 5. Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work independently under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously 6. Strong interpersonal skills 7. Strong Word and Excel skills |
