The Nurse Manager is responsible for the following functions: * Assisting in the development of patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how patients' needs for nursing care, treatment, and services are assessed, evaluated, and met. * Implementing the plans for providing nursing care, treatment, and services including the types and numbers of nursing personnel necessary to provide nursing care. * Implementing an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess, and improve nursing care, treatment, and services delivered to patients. * Promoting an environment and culture that enables HealthSouth to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying the hospital mission to all staff, holding staff accountable for performance, and motivating staff to improve performance. * Supervising and coordinating nursing personnel and delivery of nursing care on a 24-hour basis for assigned area. * Coordinating administration and clinical activities, both inter and intra-departmentally, so that optimum patient care is provided, staffing is maintained and costs contained. * Serving as CNO in his/her absence POSITION REQUIREMENTS License or Certification: * Current RN licensure appropriate to state regulations * CPR certification * CRRN certification preferred Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred * Five years experience in inpatient hospital setting. * Two years Nursing Management experience with responsibilities including such as 24 hour accountability, FTE management, policy, procedure, and budgetary oversight, and conducting disciplinary action. * Equivalent professional experience commensurate with a Master's degree. Machines, Equipment Used: * General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer. Physical Requirements: * Visual acuity and ability to communicate sufficiently to conduct safe patient care duties * Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds, which includes participating in patient mobility activities. Skills and Abilities: * Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English. * Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner * Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email. * Ability to work independently without supervision. Environmental Conditions: * Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure * Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required. * Handicapped accessibility. * May work under stressful circumstances at times. Proficiency or Productivity Standards: * May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines. * May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts. * Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster. * May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives. * Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position. |
